On June 18, the Sino-German Video Conference on Valgus Knee TKA & Inauguration Ceremony of the Sino-German Orthopedics Communication Center kicked off in the First Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University Medical College. Prof. Chen Yongsong, President of the First Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University Medical College, attended the meeting and delivered a welcome speech, and Prof. Graichen, Medical Director of Asklepios Orthopedic Clinic Lindenlohe, Orthopaedic professor of Goethe University Frankfurt, was invited to share a scientific lecture online, talking about his experience on the complexity of TKA in Valgus Knees. Prof. Hu Jun, the academic leader of Orthopaedics Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University Medical College, presided over the conference, which many other orthopaedics experts in Shantou area also attended.

With a purpose of deepening the academic exchanges, broadening our horizons, and building a professional, distinct and high-level discipline, the First Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University Medical College, works together with Asklepios Orthopedic Clinic Lindenlohe to establish a Sino-German Orthopedics Communication Center. President Chen Yongsong and Prof. Hu Jun jointly unveiled the Sino-German Orthopedics Communication Center, with Prof. Graichen participating the inauguration ceremony online. In the future, two sides will strengthen mutual cooperation through this international platform for sharing knowledge, networking with fellow colleagues and making progresses together. As one of Europe's largest clinic operators in Germany, this is the first time that Asklepios has established a communication center in China, which is of great importance for both sides.

After the inauguration ceremony, Prof. Graichen shared his experience in total knee arthroplasty surgery for valgus knee, introducing in detail the type, anatomy, pathology and surgical options for valgus knee. During the discussion session, attendees onsite actively discussed with Prof. Graichen about the sliding distance in osteotomy and the handling of bone defect, ect.
Prof. Hu Jun expressed his sincere thankfulness to Prof. Graichen for his wonderful academic sharing. Although the COVID-19 imposed great difficulties and challenges on us, but academic exchanges will never stop. The Orthopedics Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University Medical College will further strengthen international academic exchanges and broaden horizons through the Sino-German Orthopedics Communication Center, and will conduct extensive and in-depth exchanges with the Asklepios Orthopedic Clinic Lindenlohe in the fields of joint surgery, spine surgery, traumatic orthopedics, bone tumor and pediatric orthopedics, sports medicine, basic orthopedic research, personnel training and discipline construction.
