In order to implement the spirit of the Provincial Party Committee Working Conference, accelerate the construction of innovation platform, and continue to build first-class innovation ecology, Henan Provincial Development and Reform Commission conducted the 2021 annual filing exercise for provincial engineering research center. Recommended by Development and Reform Commissions at county and municipal level and provincial departments, Henan Luoyang Orthopedic-Traumatological Hospital(Henan Provincial Orthopedic Hospital) was accredited as the leading unit of Henan Provincial Engineering Research Center project after review of experts.

On June 23, the opening ceremony of the center was successfully held in the Zhengzhou campus of Henan Luoyang Orthopedic-Traumatological Hospital(hereinafter referred to as HLOH), and Prof. Zhou Yue was specially appointed Honorary Director of the center in the ceremony.

Prof. Zhou Yue is known to be the leader of MISS in China. He has been working on the basic research and clinical work of spine surgery for more than 30 years, and he is committed to MISS techniques innovation and promotion. In addition, he creatively combines modern MISS techniques and digital navigation, and pioneers over 20 new MISS techniques such as surgeries in cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine under navigatied endoscopy, which puts him in a prestigious position at home and abroad.

With a special honor, this conference was joined by many leaders and experts, including Zhang Ruoshi, Vice Director, Party Member of Health Commission of Henan Province, Ji Xiwei, Division Director of TCM Division, Health Commission of Henan Province, Chen Luyang, Vice Division Director of Innovation and High-tech Division, Henan Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Prof. Gao Yanzheng, Henan Provincial People’s Hospital, the Chairman of Orthopedic Branch, Henan Medical Association, President Li Wuyin and Vice President Cao Xiangyang of HLOH, Zhao Yizhen, Director of Hospital Management Committee of Zhengzhou campus, HLOH, and Niu Weigang, Teng Junyan, Zhao Hongxia, members of Hospital Management Committee of HLOH.

In the conference, President Li Wuyin firstly extended warm welcome to the guests, then he noted that under the leadership and guidance of Health Commission of Henan Province and Henan Provincial Development and Reform Commission, HLOH is  building a R&D platform with core competitiveness, forming a talent cultivation and reserve base, improving MISS techniques system and promoting techniques to every county to benefit more and more patients.

Prof. Gao Yanzheng, Henan Provincial People’s Hospital, the Chairman of Orthopedic Branch, Henan Medical Association gave a speech.

In his speech, Chairman Gao Yanzheng mentioned that the fast development of HLOH was influential in the medical industry, and he believed that under the guidance of Prof. Zhou Yue and the leadership of Prof. Zhu Huimin, the MISS would have a faster, more stable and long-term development.

Prof. Zhou Yue said that Orthopedics is developing towards the trend of precision, minimal invasion and intelligentization, then he analyzed the fast development of HLOH. Committed to the development concepts of minimal invasion, digitization, intelligentization, HLOH closely follows the development of surgical techniques in the world and combines modern medicine and TCM, contributing greatly to the development of Orthopedics integrated with TCM and western medicine.

In his speech, Vice Director Zhang Ruoshi hopes that HLOH will take the Henan Provincial Engineering Research Center project as an opportunity to develop MISS techniques, improve scientific capacity, strengthen disciplines construction and show the TCM feature, bringing the brand of HLOH to the next level, and even improving the overall level of Orthopedics in Henan province.

The opening ceremony of Henan Provincial Engineering Research Center of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery

President Li Wuyin issued letters of appointment to Prof. Zhou Yue and Prof. Zhu Huimin.

This center is the only provincial Engineering Research Center of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery approved by Henan Provincial Development and Reform Commission. And the appointment to Prof. Zhou Yue as the Honorary Director will give strong impulse to the development of the center, and promote MISS techniques in Henan province to the next level. This center aims at continuously innovating MISS techniques and concepts, promoting the MISS in Henan province and benefiting patients in Henan province and its surrounding area. Under the leadership of Henan Provincial Development and Reform Commission and Health Commission of Henan Province, it is now working towards its goals through various means such as basic research, design and development and clinical application.
